Here's another interesting article from The Tech that talks about the material relevant to the course (especially now that we are discussing Microsoft suit). I was going to copy and paste it here, but then decided to take a look at their copyright statement. Ironically, the link led to a non-existing page.
Instead, here's a URL where you can get the article http://www-tech.mit.edu/V118/N12/preston.12c.html . It does a nice job arguing that operating systems should be patented, not copyrighted.
