What is really difference between da40 and 172sp at gross on grass strip over 50'. Has someone own experience?

I don't have experience with the 172, but I have flown out of some pretty short grass strips with the DA40 at gross weight and even a bit over (not my choice and not my plane). I think there is no substitute for horsepower if you want to take off as short as possible, so you'd want a 172 XP (210 hp 6-cylinder engine from the late 1970s) or to keep the DA40 under gross.
