Does anyone have any experience with storing a DA40 in a 42' wide box or T-hangar?The wingspan is 39.5' which gives you 30" of total clearance (or 15" on each side).
Too close for comfort or reasonable if you're careful?

I did exactly this with a DA40 at Hanscom Field. I think the door was more like 41.5' wide. It worked out fine due to some yellow lines that had been painted on the asphalt. I did not even use a tug.

For several years I flew a Piper Seneca II. It had a wingspan of 38'11" with strobes, and I kept it in a hangar with a 40' door opening.Two tricks: I put a piece of bright tape up high on the center of the back wall of the hangar to "sight" the vertical stabilizer, and I taped a 'plumb bob' to each wingtip -- a weighted ribbon of surveyor's tape hanging straight to the ground. That made it very easy to see how close each wingtip was to the door frame.
