Hello;

I have a Katana DA20 A-1 / 80 hp and I am so far very happy. With the
new engine from Rotax the oil temperature is very high. At a
surroundig air temperature of 70 degree F and climbing on 3000 ft AGL
the maximum oil temperture of 280 degree F is allready reached.

I expect trouble in summer time with about 90 degree F, we often have
in our area.

Have you any idea to help.

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Wilhelm Wolf

I've observed the same in the DA20 A1s I've flown, though usually not 'till OAT gets above 80. For what it's worth, I haven't seen it actually get into the red zone -- just hover right on the border.

I own Katana DA20 and facing the same problem. we changed the Air filter, the Oil filter, the Temp sensor, the oil cooler BUT the same problem with no change, HIGH TEMP. The oil pressure shows normal but the oil temp on the border! what shall I do ?

Not sure on the border is an issue. The good news is more and more rotax around the US means more help available.

1. Call Diamond. Diamond started a new trend for aircraft manufacturers over a decade ago - answer the phone when owners and A&Ps need help and provide it. This was unheard of at the time, but is now the standard. Yea Diamond!

2. Contact the rotax distributor in Florida that offers all the support and training classes (sorry don't recall the name). If they can't help over the phone, they likely know a good rotax expert near you.
