Objective
The student will assume the instructor's role and construct an
entire lesson plan for an introductory helicopter student. The lesson
will include a preflight briefing on selected maneuvers and in-flight
instruction using the demonstration/performance method. The lesson
should follow this basic structure:
- Introduction
- Attention
- Motivation
- Overview
- Body
- Explanation/demonstration
- Performance/demonstration
- Evaluation
- Conclusion
- Summary
- Re-motivation
- Closure
Elements
Preflight Briefing (to be given by the CFI candidate)
- Verbal statement of objective
- Comprehensive oral description
- Use of instructional aids (if applicable)
- Discussion of common student errors
Simulated Flight Lesson (with CFI candidate as instructor)
- Rapid deceleration
- Maximum performance takeoff
- Steep approach to a hover
- Shallow approach and running landing
- Slope operations

Completion Standards
The student shall assume the instructor's role and construct an
entire lesson plan for the lesson period. The student shall perform a
preflight briefing on the selected maneuvers and conduct them using
the demonstration/performance method while simultaneously explaining
the maneuvers.
