The chief or assistant chief flight instructor will conduct this lesson. The student will be evaluated on their readiness to take the flight instructor rotorcraft/helicopter practical test

4. Fundamentals of Flight (A of O IX)
• Straight and level flight
• Level turns
• Straight climb and climbing turns
• Straight descents and descending turns
5. Performance Maneuvers (A of O X)
• Rapid deceleration
• Straight-in autorotation
• 180 degree autorotation
6. Emergency Operations (A of O XI)
• Power failure at a hover
• Power failure at altitude
• Settling with power
• Low RPM recovery
• Anti-torque system failure
• Systems and equipment malfunctions (in-flight oral)
7. Special Operations
• Task -- Confined Operation

Completion Standards

The student has demonstrated from the flight test that they meet the acceptable performance standards of the applicable areas of the flight instructor helicopter practical test.
