Objective
Student continues building proficiency in the use of flight controls, holding a hover, normal approaches and departures, and radio communication. Emphasis will be placed on how crosswinds affect helicopter maneuvers.

Introduction
- Straight in autorotation (entry by lowering collective)
Schedule
- 0-30 minutes: Student shows instructor a weather briefing; discussion about whether or not to fly; review of quiz or reading material
- 30-60: Drive to helicopter hangar and preflight inspection (student alone)
- 60-70: Startup
- 70-80: Instructor air/hover taxis to Taxiway Whiskey or Romeo for hover practice at Bedford
- 80-95: Flight to Minuteman (K6B6)/Norwood (KOWD)/Nashua (KASH), with practice on climbs, descents, turns
- 95-100: Hover practice at destination
- 100-115: Back to Hanscom
- 115-125: Hover work at Hanscom
- 125-135: Pattern work at Hanscom
- 135-155: Put helicopter away, return to classroom
- 155-170: Discussion

Completion Standards
Student should be able to maintain altitude +/- 100' when straight and
level and +/- 200' in turns, airspeed should be controled within +/-
10 knots, and heading should be maintained +/- 15 degrees. Student
should be progressing toward holding a hover for longer than 1 minute
in winds of 8 knots or less. Student should demonstrate an
understanding of crosswind influence on helicopter maneuvers.
Student should have managed two unassisted takeoffs to a hover and two
unassisted landings from a hover, both with minimum sideward or rearward
motion.
