Objective
Improve proficiency with maximum performance takeoffs and steep
approaches. Learn to recognize shallow, normal, and steep approach
angles.

Schedule
- 0-30 minutes: drive to helicopter hangar and preflight inspection
- 30-40: startup
- 40-55: student air taxis to Taxiway Whiskey or Romeo for hover
practice (do this while student is fresh)
- 55-65: normal takeoffs, approaches, and landings, with steep 360s
in the downwind
- 65-75: maximum performance takeoffs with shallow approaches to landing
- 75-85: maximum performance takeoffs with steep approaches to landing
- 85-105: put helicopter away
- 105-120: discussion
Completion Standards
The student should be able to hold the helicopter at ETL during a
maximum performance takeoff. The student should be able to recognize
when a steep approach is going badly and initiate a go-around.
