Personal Assistant Wanted
for Philip Greenspun, posted in April 2006
Site Home : One Job Listing
I haven't made a final decision on this job yet (been too busy because I
don't have a personal assistant...). There are some strong candidates
from India in the $1-3/hour range. A lot of very qualified Americans
applied wanting $25-50/hour, but I have no profit-making business
associated with these tasks, so it is hard to justify paying 8X more.
I am looking for a reliable personal assistant, to work by telephone
and Internet. This job could be done by a person living in India, for
example, or the American Midwest. The hours are flexible and would
probably total roughly 15 hours per week.
Here are some of the tasks that are included in the job:
- filter email, deleting spam and answering the simple copyright
questions (photo permissions, mostly people who have found one of my
pictures but not the copyright statement so they just need a reply
with the URL)
- organize events and follow-up with people by email and phone (I
can provide a Voice-Over-IP telephone with a U.S. number)
- light HTML editing and assembly of information (i.e., an organized
mind and reasonable computer skills are required, but not programming
experience)
- moderation of comments and spam in my personal site and Weblog
- respond to customer service requests for www.greenspun.com
discussion forums
Requirements:
- excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken
- high-speed Internet connection
- experience with using Web sites for shopping, maintaining a Web site
or Weblog
- references: one personal and one employer
Salary: paid weekly via Paypal or other mutually satisfactory system
Apply: Send cover letter, resume, and salary requirements in plain
text, HTML, or PDF format (not
Microsoft Word!) to
philg@mit.edu with a subject line of
"personal assistant application"
