I live in Boston but have never met Philip, Tracy or Eve. I did attend a "bootcamp" in mid 2000 where I met Harry and have followed the company since. I think Philip's writing on this matter is (obviously?) bias. That's not to say I disagree (if I were in a position to disagree) with Philip's perspective. It merely note that the script shows some bias. I think Philip's fundamental mistake was that he wanted to spend more time in engineering/education and less on administration and assumed that if he surrendered control to business people (vc/Allen) they would run the company (from a philosophical perspecitve) the way he wanted it run. They didn't. (My Dad made me read "The New New Thing") and if Philip had read it (it is a rather poor book) he might have realized where things could go once he surrendered control.
