I have a CS BS from the University of Missouri at Rolla. I've
been working for almost a year. I'm not rich, but I live awfully
well, and I have time to indulge my theoretical interests. As it
so happens, I also have a genuine interest in something that has
immediate market value. There's nothing inherently wrong with you
if you don't, but it is not reasonable to complain that people will
not make you wealthy when you have nothing they want in trade.
There is nothing inherently different here with someone who has
a more advanced degree - the only difference is that more of the
people with advanced degrees think that because they're so damned
educated and intelligent, they're automatically worth money they
haven't earned.
Envy is not pretty, people. We all make choices; learn to choose
what you want and be happy with it, because you can't have
everything. Nobody has everything, no matter how enviable his
life might seem from afar.
