Just giving money to people on the street wouldn't accomplish a whole lot. Most of the people on the street would take the money and buy a bottle of booze or drugs. Implementing a "McDonalds Welfare" system would just incourage every freeloader and cheapskate in the neighborhood to take advantage of the program to the detrement of those that really need it. Why not get government out of it completely? The government can't do anything without massive bungling and cost overruns, so why trust them with welfare? I suggest we all make contributions to private charities that don't waste most of the money given to them, such as the Salvation Army.
