It would be so nice to think of guys in suits as completely dumb (I'm an engineer myself). Still, they did manage to somehow make their $10bn, didn't they? And, about the .NET initiative - it's my turn to be dumb - how does that interplay with open source? Or have M$ approached Richard Stallman and Linus Torvalds as well? Also, above is an interesting angle in looking at open source as a means of gaining a competitive edge. And over whom, exactly? BEA? IBM? ATG? Still, massive respect. Unless of course, as in the end of Orwell's 'Animal Farm', the pigs (revolution leaders) begin to look like people (oppressors).
