I have no problem with Bill Gates' wealth. More power to him! What I do have a problem with is Microsoft's policy of "forced upgrades". What I mean is how every new version of MS Office changes the filetypes so as to obsolete the older versions, thus forcing folks to upgrade. Come on, how many people need all the features in Office XP? How many people need more features than are offered by Wordpad for most of their writing? And why is it you can no longer create a Rich Text Format document? Oh, you can still save an existing rtf as such, but you cannot CREATE an rtf. Maybe because it has become an open standard, and thus brings Bill no more money? I'm thinking so... There is no technical reason for the recent changes, so I have to go with "sales of Office have been soft recently, so we have to do SOMETHING to force folks to upgrade".
