Accademia

Most of Venice's art is viewed in vivo, i.e., you see the painting in the building for which it was commissioned. However, every city needs to have an art warehouse and the Accademia is Venice's. Many of the city's best works are on display here and they are beginning to translate the Italian signs into English as well. The 18th-century Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, now home to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection of modern art.
Two tourists discover the saddest aspect of Italian tourism: museums that are closed for restoration. In this case, it is the Peggy Guggenheim Collection on the Grand Canal.

Peggy Guggenheim

The first time I was in Venice, I didn't feel that I had enough time to see this collection of modern art. The second time, it was closed from January 8 to February 3, 1996. It is supposed to be nice.
