I am not a pilot yet. But I've been saving for airplane. With work
and every thing else I plan on buying a plane for my 40th b-day
which is in 3years? I would like to know what you think about the
(mountain goat) Would it be a good starter plane?
P.S. Thank you for your article on the DA40/ Cirrus
I really like the cirrus now I'm thinking about a DA40 for a
starter plane. And how would the mountain goat be for a starter
plane? How much are they?

I hadn't heard of the Mountain Goat until just now when I did a Google search. If you live in a cabin in the middle of Alaska and only have a 500' gravel bar on which to land it would probably be a good airplane, assuming it ever gets FAA certified. Most new airplane designs never make it all the way through the process and/or by the time they do the performance numbers are very different.

You can't choose an airplane until you define the mission: How many people? How many miles? From what kind of airports (long or short runways; paved, gravel, or grass)? IFR or VFR?
