  1. @Philg: So they shipped the before the unshipped them? What happened there?

I’ll bet can guess: The order taking-and-processing system took your money and generated the pick instructions and shipping label for the warehouse, but by the time the robot pickers in the warehouse got to the cupboard, it was bare!

    • Oh I see, they took the order in May and shipped it in June, 13 months later. Almost as good!

  2. You’d think an SR-20 would have some value during an apocalypse, but general aviation can’t even compete with face masks.

    • This is actually one of the great things about Florida for parents of K-12 kids. In Maskachusetts you’re trapped during the school year for the worst weather and the peak COVID-19 months. In Florida, so far the seasonal COVID peak seems to coincide with the school vacation. So we will likely be 20 degrees latitude north whenever COVID rages in the Palm Beach/Jupiter region.

(Separately, I think a lot of other parts of the U.S. are having a COVID-19 surge right now. https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/24/health/us-coronavirus-saturday/index.html says “In Los Angeles County, which was crushed during the winter surge of the coronavirus, Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations are now again exploding. On Saturday, the county reported 2,600 new cases. A day earlier, county health officials recorded more than 3,000 new Covid-19 infections, for the first time since February. Friday’s figure was nearly triple what Los Angeles County was recording two weeks ago.” Even the righteous are not spared. https://www.wcvb.com/article/massachusetts-covid-19-update-july-19-2021/37070294# : “Despite having one of the highest vaccination rates in the United States, Massachusetts is seeing a surge in COVID-19 cases. Data from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health shows an additional 717 confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported Monday. The data includes new positive coronavirus cases reported since Friday.” Florida has a larger population than Maskachusetts, so that means journalists love writing about it because the absolute numbers are big (see also India; a “disaster” despite having a much lower population-adjusted rate of COVID-19 deaths than, say, Maskachusetts). Also, of course, Floridians are considered by the righteous to be stupid and wicked, which means it is important to feature Florida in articles targeted at the righteous.)

    • Yep…spiking everywhere. And virtually 100% from the un-vaccinated. (Don’t bother posting links that some vaccinated folks are testing positive as well.)

The only good that might come from this is more people will have some degree of natural immunity.

    • “And virtually 100% from the un-vaccinated.”

Apparently, not in Israel, the most vaccinated country in the world (?). According to their official data, “in the age cohort 20-29 years old[..] the vaccination rate doesn’t seem to impact the infection rate.” The picture is similar in other age cohorts.

Even more counterintuitively, at least until we get more data: “But what about hospitalization numbers and deaths? One would expect the hospitalized rate to be significantly higher for the unvaccinated than the vaccinated. According to the data set herein, the total number of hospitalizations is slightly higher in the vaccinated”

I hope Israeli researchers will be able to shed some light on that puzzle because they appear to be less mentally challenged by their political biases than some/most? of their colleagues in this country.

    • Ivan…indeed very troubling. Reading your link they state that their findings are not conclusive, but it’s still worrisome.

    • Wow, that was an entertaining link full of complete, unsubstantiated nonsense. Do people actually believe this shit? Talk about about a big ego, this guy takes the cake.

    • Jim, are you up to fighting anti-vax disinformation from such bastion of libertarianism and Trumpism as CNBC? https://www.cnbc.com/2021/07/23/delta-variant-pfizer-covid-vaccine-39percent-effective-in-israel-prevents-severe-illness.html “Israel says Pfizer Covid vaccine is just 39% effective as delta spreads, but still prevents severe illness
The efficacy figure, which is based on an unspecified number of people between June 20 and July 17, is down from an earlier estimate of 64% two weeks ago”

Israel made itself test tube of the effects of the vaccine, its collects data on national scale and reports it to WHO, vaccination is mandatory for adults and Israel demographics is younger age categories-heavy.

    • Jim, Bezos’es hobby article is just mix of unprofessional propaganda with some common sense statements. Graphs start in 9 – 10 months into pandemic in November/December 2020 to purport that non vaccinated rise was sharp vs sloppier Delta start. Israel still has quarantine for all its new or returning arrivals which did not exist at the start of pandemic that too was slow early on in Spring of 2020.
