{"id":768,"date":"2007-01-09T19:04:03","date_gmt":"2007-01-09T23:04:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/philip.greenspun.com\/blog\/2007\/01\/09\/apple-iphone\/"},"modified":"2007-01-09T19:04:03","modified_gmt":"2007-01-09T23:04:03","slug":"apple-iphone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/philip.greenspun.com\/blog\/2007\/01\/09\/apple-iphone\/","title":{"rendered":"Apple iPhone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Apple introduces its first phone today.\u00a0 It is a bit tough to tell from looking at Apple&#8217;s Web site, but it appears that this is yet another\u00a0smartphone that is not a flip-phone.\u00a0 In other words, if\u00a0it brushes up against something in your pocket it will make or answer unwanted calls.\u00a0 Basically all Japanese phones are flip-phones and it baffles me as to how American consumers are denied the simple interface of &#8220;open to make or\u00a0answer a call; flip closed to hang up&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Apple gives us an MP3 player, which other brands of smart phones have had for several years.\u00a0 What I want is a phone that won&#8217;t make calls from inside my pocket.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0[The Web site is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/iphone\/\">http:\/\/www.apple.com\/iphone\/<\/a>\u00a0;
