If recollecting were forgetting,
  Then I remember not;
And if forgetting, recollecting,
  How near I had forgot!
And if to miss were merry,
  And if to mourn were gay,
How very blithe the fingers
  That gathered these to-day!
-- "With Flowers" by Emily Dickinson
Note that the title is carefully chosen. Native Hawaiian flower species tend to be small and unimpressive. The climate is conducive to growing many stunning imported species, hence this exhibit. Many of these images are from the Nani Mau gardens in Hilo on the Big Island. The big square ones are from a big square Rollei 6008 camera (mostly with Zeiss 120 macro lens). The little rectangular ones are from a little rectangular Nikon 8008 and 60/2.8 AF macro lens.

(The spider was hanging out in the flower garden so I stuck him on this page.)

OK, now for my favorite pictures from Hawaii... The story of the dolphins is chronicled at the end of my underwater photography primer.

I love black and white pictures of Hawaii:

... but I guess most folks would rather see color.

If you go in the wintertime, remember that it can rain. A lot. I was there for 17 days in February and only saw the sun on two days.
