Ultra High Bandwidth Resources
What is Ultra High Bandwidth? I define it a connection between the client and server, where data transfer (at least from the server to the client) can take place at the speed of 1.5 mbps or faster. This speed:
- Will allow a good resolution full screen movie to stream and web cast with out any buffering and other delays.
-
Would be excellent for online education and videoconferencing.
-
Would allow people to send video e-mails of reasonable lengths.
We need to understand that for this to be successful one would need 1.5 mbps transfer rate in all parts of the Internet, including the last mile. This technology is not yet commonplace. Yahoo once streamed movies using Media Player at 1.0 mbps and one could see a full screen movie with slight loss of resolution. That effort was however, abandoned due to lack of commercial success.
