I thought in California everyone was required to have at least one self-help book on his or her person at all times. Kinda like Mao’s Little Red Book.
Jon is funny & spot-on. Self-help books, like personal trainers at gyms and “life coaches,” are so common in Philip’s native Bethesda (MD) that I don’t think it would disqualify anyone in uber-liberal California.
Steven Covey created the self help book & it’s been a racket ever since.
Only if they’re Tony Robbins books.
lol @ Francis
Alain de Botton is a great philosopher who criticizes modern meritocracy and ridicules the Self Help Book by Antony Robbins:
The whole talk is interesting, I recommend watching it.
Alain has a great set of videos on different western philosophers. One video is very good for you pilots out there it’s called “The Wisdom of the Desert”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ad-L29tTnc
