According to this New York Times story, a B average in high school is very rewarding…
“Finally, my parents told me if I got a 3.0 G.P.A. or higher on my report card, they’d buy me any car I wanted, within reason.”
Daddy’s Little Girl is now driving the 2004 Cadillac Escalade EXT (5700 lbs.; 12 mpg; $53,000) that she got for her 16th birthday.
If I had ever walked into my home with a 3.0 GPA I would have gotten the beating of a lifetime. Hell, I still remember all the grief I took from my mom for getting a “B” in one semester of 8th grade English.
Of course, those were my parents. If my child has trouble in school, say getting Ds, and he manages to push up to B then that is a monumental jump and he deserves some kind of reward for the effort. But a car? No way.
heh…i got a final mark (actually some type of rank) of 98.2 out of 100 at school…
my mother promptly asked “what happened to the other 1.8?” but i think she was joking…
oh jesus…i just read the article…*wipes tears from eyes*
the onion and nyTimes could start sydicating…
Impresionante. Simplemente me ha dejado sin palabras. Que superficialidad.
