A complete Microsoft Outlook record

I asked a new friend for enough information to fill up a Microsoft Outlook record for her.  Here’s part of what she came back with…

  • HEIGHT: 5’6.5″
  • WEIGHT: negotiable
  • EYE COLOR: hazel
  • HAIR COLOR: light brown before appointments with Anna and blonde after apts. with Anna
  • MEASUREMENTS: small, large, large

If only public companies reported this accurately…

  1. Just to be, um , businesslike, I’ve adapted a disclaimer to place with my own personal information.

    Forward Looking Statement
Some of the statements made by Gary in this release are forward-looking in nature. Actual results may differ materially from those projected in forward-looking statements. Gary believes that his primary risk factors include, but are not limited to: changes in the overall economy relating to, among other things, the September 11 attacks and subsequent events, the challenges of exercise, substantial gustatory requirements; development of effective internal processes and systems; the ability to attract and retain high quality lackies; technology; the number and size of competitors in his markets; law and regulatory policy; and the mix of products and services offered in Gary’s target markets. Additional information concerning these and other important factors can be found within Gary’s filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Statements in this release should be evaluated in light of these important factors.

  2. Nick: Outlook sucks in a lot of ways, esp. because I can’t figure out how to program it. But I started using it when I got my Handspring Treo so that I could have my addresses and phone numbers in the Palm portion of the device. It would be nice if Outlook stored everything in an RDBMS and you could do your own SQL queries. But I guess that isn’t likely to happen any time soon.

What would the alternative to Outlook be anyway? (given that one wants to sync with a Palm-like device and/or other phones in the future)

  3. One Outlook alternative is Yahoo Mail’s address book. It will export/import Palm Desktop (.ABA) format, or Outlook format, and there’s an app for synching. I regularly move among several remote sites, and friends’ houses, and the Yahoo suite (which is free) works for me. And I trust Yahoo not to lose my address book to a hard drive crash more than I trust myself not to lose my data. Of course, what’s on Yahoo is also on various other devices.
