Hungry Planet, the book, is now available

Peter Menzel and Faith D’Aluisio’s book, Hungry Planet, is now available from amazon.com.  I just bought copies for my young nephews and cousins.  Highly recommended for fans of photography and people interested in geography and world cultures.

  1. Philip, I see this “pgreenspun-20” bit in your amazon.com link. Is there some good cause I’d be supporting if I were to buy the book following your link?

  2. Patrick: For the last 10 years the main recipient of funds from my Web sites has been http://www.sarasanctuary.org. The Amazon links work less and less well for books, however. Maybe people aren’t reading as much as they did in the 1990s. I’m considering moving all of my stuff to a commercial hosting service soon (philip.greenspun.com had a 36-hour outage starting Friday morning and maybe it is time to pull it out of the photo.net cluster) and it would be kind of nice if some combination of Google ads on a few pages and Amazon links could pay for the hosting, at least.

  3. That’s too bad, because I’ve always liked the lack of ads on your simple text and photo-based site.

  4. Thank you for recommending this book. I just picked up my copy from the post office today. It certainly looks interesting.

One thing, and I hope that’s just bad luck: quite a few pages are stuck together with what appears to be a bit of glue on the very edge of the paper. Fortunately, they can easily be separated by running your hand between two stuck pages. However, it doesn’t make a very favorable first impression.
