The main gym at MIT reopened this week after some maintenance. There is still no soap for the pool showers. The men’s locker room has a new scale, which looked curiously massive from a distance. I approached for a closer inspection. The new scale reads up to 500 lbs.

500 pounds? Seems more suited to an NFL lockerroom than an MIT gym.
Maybe it’s all the extra gray matter the super-smart guys/gals possess?
Or possibly the staffers just got a great deal on it.
That’s to weigh handicapped people. You pick up the person unable to stand unaided on the scale and read it. Then you weigh yourself. Then you find someone to help you with the calculations.
See now why they can’t provide soap? There would never be enough!
