  1. Excellent essay! It reminded me of an old IEEE Spectrum article that comes at the issue from a slightly different angle. (Short version: software is math; math is not patentable; software is patentable…?)

    I wonder what the fix is, though? There are so many people so heavily invested in the current broken system. One important part of the fix is certainly raising awareness through articles like yours. Maybe we’ll get a good supreme court challenge one day. (I live in perpetual fear of a bad supreme court challenge.)
