Here’s a funny aero-news.net story about the TSA inspectors at O’Hare climbing up on some $20 million regional jets by grabbing hold of the total air temperature (TAT) probe. The government employees broke 9 airplanes and inflicted further misery on 40 canceled flights full of passengers. It is unclear what the purpose of the exercise was. The TSA claims that they were trying to see if someone could open the main cabin door, yet the main cabin door is designed to be opened by someone standing on the ground.

Philip, I sent a letter to my congressman complaining of TSA’s tactics and possibility of causing damage back in August. He forwarded my concerns to TSA and promised a response. I recently received a letter from the congressman which contained TSA’s response in which they claim they did no damage the the whole affair was blown out of proportion by the media. How are we supposed to trust TSA with our lives during air travel when I can’t believe them about something as simple as whether their inspectors were climbing on aircraft on a supposedly secure airport ramp?
