  1. According to most stories, the wealth is very tightly controlled by the Queen, not something the average royal has access to. There is also weight on the two princes, in particular, to do something that is “fitting for the monarchy.” They might wish to just stay home and learn Ruby on Rails for web publishing, but they need to “boost the brand” instead. There aren’t that many positions available to do that.

It’s easier for Harry. He’s the spare.

  2. He’s got to do his royal duty which traditionally means serving in the military. But he be risked in a war zone and with a government that seems to like getting involved in wars that makes choice of position a little more tricky. Seems like a smart choice for the brand – RAF search and rescue regularly deployed for civilian rescues.

  3. My wife has a theory about people who choose to fly Helicopters; they like it becaasue it requires complete but relaxed concentration, attention to many things at once, and involves the entire body.

    What do you think?

  4. His choices actually seem quite limited to me. His Uncle was a helicopter pilot in the RAF – apparently he wasn’t the greatest pupil ever. The conditions Ellis describes seem to me likely to promote present moment awareness and mindfulness.
