My posting about a Russian tourist in Washington, D.C. occasioned some debate about the USDA in the comment section. The normally sleepy agency made the news today, though, with a New York Times story about $4.4 billion in new handouts. How much is $4.4 billion? The World Food Program estimates that $3.2 billion would eliminate hunger among school-age children worldwide (source).
