Twins

Friends have fraternal twins. Last year one of them shut down the school for a while (previous post). They’re in Fourth Grade this year and the teacher asked them to write down what they wished for. The boy wished for $100 billion for himself. His sister wanted (a) money to help the homeless, (b) world peace, (c) “a huge pool. It will be enormously long and will stretch around the world so children can have fun after school. I wished for a pool because I think people that live in Africa can take a dip in the pool after they have finished working in the hot climates.”

  1. Before clicking the previous post, I doubt I’m the only one who assumed the non-altruistic twin was the one who shut down the school.

  2. Nature vs. nurture? Hah! Although, do we know for sure that the boy does not also want to build a world pool, but is more secretive and diligent, having already done a rough cost estimate for the pool?

Imagine these kids’ shock and/or delight when they figure out that the Atlantic ocean already exists, and is quite nice for refreshing dips, both in America and in Africa.

  3. Kids are born with a mind full of curiosity, creativity and wanders. All of which are suppressed by their parents and school system as they grow. The few who survive this suppression make it into the history book (in a good or bad way).
