My takeaway line: “you taste what you want to taste”. It’s a hustle but everybody wants to believe.
Great article, it had a good level of the intrigue in it. Sure, the chef is most certainly exaggerating the reservation list and the attendees. I hope (and suspect) it is more of his clumsy attempt to add hype to his brand and not a complete deceit. It looks like he is doing something really unique and the food gets great reviews, so he must be doing something right. I wouldn’t mind trying out his food.
Speaking of eccentrics, there’s the maker of ‘Birdemic’. But in this case, it is a mix of pity and humor since the guy is obviously clueless about why the film is popular:
