Don’t let your kids grow up to be engineers, Part 1

A Facebook during our family sojourn in Ft. Lauderdale:

I have officially had it with Hertz. The minivan that I reserved was “not available” and this yellow car that they gave us as a substitute is definitely not “stroller-friendly” like the agent said.

At least a few engineers later asked me about Hertz, driving the “yellow car” (a Lamborghini, I think), etc.

  1. Not sure about Lamborghini, but it is easier and cheaper to rent a Corvette at Hertz than a minivan. I once was upgraded free to a Corvette from an economy class at Hertz, but weekend minivan rental costs as if it is a Lamborghini.

  2. @dean
Ever seen what a couple toddlers can do to the inside of a car? I suspect that contributes to the Lambo-esque rates for the van.

  3. With the recent news how the airlines industry is treating customers (not to mention charging fees even for carry on bags) they can learn from the car rental industry.
