AirVenture 2020 (“Oshkosh”) is July 20-26, 2020. The reservation form for the dormitories at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh went live today. The A/C rooms sleep two for $125/night. The A/C suites sleep four for $325/night. There is a shuttle bus from the dorms direct to the show.
The fee to reserve is fairly small, so if your plans change it is not a catastrophe to forfeit. They don’t ask for a full payment until about 1.5 months prior. You can also tweak the arrival/departure dates after reserving.
(I reserved a suite, which comes with a full kitchen, so I can host reader morning coffees!)
The suites sold out almost instantly. 🙁
(But I am #3 on the waitlist and this year they got through #42 for the suites (of which there are 89).)
I am looking forward to staying in the air conditioned dorms this year after being in the “naturally cooled” dorms years prior.

Staying at the dorms works well and is low stress compared to hotel + car. Fly into MKE and get the Lamers UW Oshkosh bus ($26 each way) that takes you all the way to the dorms. Dorms are $75/night for two beds (not air conditioned). There is a bus that goes from the dorms to Oshkosh ($20 for unlimited rides the whole week). By the dorm bus pickup there is a cafeteria that serves breakfast ($10) and dinner ($15). Uber rides are generally easy to get from dorms for venturing to other places in town.
