“Calls for Kavanaugh’s Impeachment Come Amid New Misconduct Allegations” (nytimes):
Several Democratic presidential candidates called for the impeachment of Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh on Sunday after The New York Times published new information about allegations of sexual misconduct against him, while Republican leaders condemned the reporting as irresponsible and defended him.
“These newest revelations are disturbing,” Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts wrote on Twitter about The Times essay. “Like the man who appointed him, Kavanaugh should be impeached.”
Kamala Harris, a Democratic senator from California and a member of the Senate committee that presided over his confirmation hearings, on Twitter echoed the call for impeachment.
I don’t understand what Democrats would gain if the two proposed impeachments were successful. Trump gets replaced by Pence, right? Wouldn’t that just set Pence up for a 9-year presidency? Similarly, if Kavanaugh were to be impeached, wouldn’t Trump (or Pence, in the Democrats’ ideal world!) simply appoint an equally conservative replacement? If the replacement happens to identify as a woman, e.g., Amy Coney Barrett, then the current standard playbook couldn’t be used.
(I personally would be happy if Kavanaugh were gone, since he has admitted to being “proud” of having practiced sex discrimination in hiring (nytimes: “I am proud that a majority of my law clerks have been women.”). I don’t understand how the U.S. can have a gender-neutral legal environment when judges brag about not treating all 52 (54?) genders equally.)
My bet is Ginsberg told everybody she will step down.
We will know within 60 days.
Good call!
Indeed supposedly Kavanaugh was among the most moderate picks on Trump’s list. Since the Democrats threw a tantrum over him, Trump has no incentive other than to nominate a base-pleasing hardline conservative.
The optimal timing would coincide with Warren’s swearing in, and the senate flipping.
The objective is to neuter Kavanaugh and to make him into an object of ridicule (like Clarence Thomas –so when you think of him you think of a pubic hair on a can of coke)– to encourage him to move toward the warm embrace of the left — look at Anthony Kennedy. Everyone knows neither Trump nor Kavanaugh will be impeached so long as the Republicans control the Senate.
Mary Jo Kopechne is still dead. No Democrat in office today has the moral authority to pass judgment over anyone for moral matters of any nature.
Many Democrats in office today were not alive in 1969, what on earth does she have to do with any moral failings?
Sometimes the best way for a woman to get ahead is on her back.

A lot of Democrats are dumb. I guess they never thought about the implications of impeachment and removal. They think that Hillary becomes president and Merrick Garland because a SCOTUS justice.
RBG’s RHR asymptotically approaches single digits….
(1) Kav’s “What goes around comes around” speech was taken by Dems to be a direct threat. (2) Dems wonder what dirt/leverage Trump has on Kav. (3) Temperament: Whereas Repubs saw a man under duress, Dems saw Dr.Jekyl failing to contain Mr.Hyde. Narcissistic rage, self-contradiction, Clinton conspiracy theories, and transparent lies about boofing/devil’s triangle are not a good look for a SC justice.

Does Pence even have a constituency? Wouldn’t Romney have a better shot?
