Fifth of a series… near the peak of foliage season (mid-October) we decided to fly from Boston to Bar Harbor, Maine, following the shoreline, in a Robinson R44 helicopter. Tony Cammarata was in back with a door removed (frosty!) and a Nikon D850. Instrument student Vince Dorow was with me in the front seats.

Are all lighthouses in the US still staffed? From their appearances in these images, linked to houses, one would suppose so.
In Britain, by contrast, probably all, certainly most lighthouses have been automated for some years.
Bernie: It looks as though this particular lighthouse was staffed by humans through 1989. Now it is automated and the keeper’s house is a museum. https://portlandheadlight.com/about-us
