America’s best-educated folks do COVID-19 risk management

“I’m A Middle-Aged Woman Who Is Considering Hiring A Male Escort” (HuffPost):

“If I can hire a massage therapist to help relieve my back pain … and a mechanic to service my car, I should be able to legally hire a man to have sex with me.”

Who’s the author? “Patricia Thornton is a psychologist, mom, dancer and writer. She lives and works in New York City.” In other words, someone with an elite education (vaguely scientific?) living in an city packed with elites.

Here’s the part of the article that fascinates me:

in October 2020 after not having sex in almost a year due to the pandemic

#AbundanceOfCaution and #FollowTheScience. Avoid sex with mild-mannered accountants because, despite their low comparative risk, it is still possible that they could have asymptomatic COVID-19. But is that level of risk-aversion consistent with wanting, right now, to hire a prostitute (regardless of the prostitute’s current gender ID)? Prostitutes are not known for a low level of infectious disease. Vaccine+sex with prostitute is not the most obvious strategy for avoiding COVID-19.

  1. Splendid, this will create new jobs for low skilled immigrants (though the laundry list of demands that this middle aged woman has for the perfect man might require a high skilled immigrant (with rather particular skills …)).

  2. Interesting story about how US’s puritan liberal laws against prostitution caused someone to get raped.

“I felt I would be safer hiring someone to please me than looking for a sexual partner on a dating site.”

Someone who looks like that is going to have a hard time getting banged the righteous way, unless she lives in silicon valley.

    • I think she claimed “sexual assault”, which can be anything like touching her without a written and notarized contract. The prospective escorts had better bring a video camera.

  3. > But is that level of risk-aversion consistent with wanting, right now, to hire a prostitute (regardless of the prostitute’s current gender ID)?

Who cares about gender ID those days. What really matters is making sure the prostitute shows z/s/he’s CDC COVID-19 vaccination record card.

The alternative for not being vaccinated is: a) a negative test result within 24 hours, and b) wearing the face diaper during sex.

  4. My body my choice is a go for abortion but not for prostitution, nonbig-pharma pharmaceuticals and the ability to refuse medical treatments.
I’d guess her dry spell is due to age and the pandemic is an ego soothing excuse.

  5. I am currently responding using a phone so must be brief and cannot quote any German or French Postmodern philosophers but I say if it is so ordinary and normal a wish to be discussed politely in the NYT then I quote John Oliver discussing Trumpenführer running for President:

    “DÖ IT !!”

It conclusively proves a corollary of a theory of mine that I predicted to my -ex gf. (psychologie) and was yelled at and derided for dayz, almost 20 years ago. Now it is time. And there is much more to come.

Also Dan Ackroyd is reprising his Ghostbusters role and now he can go on SNL and bring back Fred Garvin, Male Prostitute.

  6. Legalize prostitution. End the monopoly of the female cartel.

And let sex workers be protected (and taxed) by the law.
