Should Texas sell sponsorship rights for buses that transport asylum-seekers to sanctuary cities?

Here are a couple of neon sculptures by Eric Adams, the artist who now serves as New York City mayor, in the lobby of the Whitney museum, just above the ticket desk ($25 for an adult, though free for SNAP/EBT beneficiaries):

Our sanctuary cities are somewhat undersupplied with migrants due to a shortage of buses from the border in Texas. A neighbor who is a refugee from Gavin Newsom’s lockdowns said that he wanted to sponsor a bus, but there is no opportunity for a private citizen to do so. Is Texas leaving a lot of sponsorship money on the table? What would the donor get? His/her/zir/their name on the side of the bus? (in a digital sign so that a different sponsor could be recognized on subsequent trips) A photograph of the happy New Americans disembarking in New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, San Francisco, or some other sanctuary city?

You might think that Democrats are being left out of this offer, but migrants can also be transported with love, not just with hate by Deplorable haters. Example… “Colorado is busing migrants to New York and other major cities” (Axios):

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis is busing migrants who recently arrived in Denver from the southern U.S. border to other major cities. The Democratic governor’s move echoes actions by Republican governors in Texas and Florida that were labeled callous and cruel.

Readers: Would you sponsor a bus for migrants to use to reach their dream city? If so, to which city would you offer transportation and how much would you be willing to pay for the honor of sponsorship? What would you want for recognition?

    • Chapaqua, NY and a couple of towns on the Delaware shore. and the towns that the head of the contractors (Catholic Charities, Red Cross, etc) live in. If someone wants to found the non-profit I’ll contribute for a couple of seats. Lunch and bathroom stops at franchises that support immigration. My contribution will be for the seat and the fast food.

  2. We sponsor them on the receiving end, in Calif*. Greenspun should sponsor a plane. Don’t know why the amerikan people don’t buy them a trip to the space station.

  4. I would send as many as possible to Palo Alto and Menlo Park.

    Then commission an Estatua de Libertad except it would look like Pablo Escobar and be holding a taped up package of cocaine and an eternally burning crack pipe.

  5. Actually Texas selling sponsorships is a brilliant idea:

    It would absolve private subjects from responsibility if a Democrat prosecutor discovers an unused law from 1884 that declares the aiding and abetting of shipping migrants as domestic terrorism.

  6. Why stop at sponsorship? Bus the migrants on the streets of liberals and offer them to pick a house they want to live in and drop them off. To be super causes, find a house with a “No Human Is Illegal” sign on their lawn and drop off migrants at the house.

    Everyone wins, the migrants get to pick a house to live in, and the liberals fulfill their promise to humanity. No?

  7. Would you sponsor a bus for migrants to use to reach their dream city? Yes!
    If so, to which city would you offer transportation and how much would you be willing to pay for the honor of sponsorship? Pebble Beach CA is the obvious choice. The average bus holds 50 illegals. I would pay up to 100 per illegal or 5000 for the entire bus load.
    What would you want for recognition? Just the word “ni*ger” to be prominently displayed on the bus.

  8. Keep on sending them. Virtually every business in the state is hiring.

    I hope all those refugees from “Gavin Newsom’s lockdowns” are happy in their new bug infested, homophobic environments. Really, good riddance to them. California should be sending busloads and planeloads of those whiners to Florida and Texas.

    • Jim: it sounds as though you don’t sincerely welcome all migrants. You say that you want those who will work. Does that mean you don’t welcome migrants who are sick, disabled, and/or elderly? Or you don’t welcome migrants who are currently infants and toddlers and won’t be working for 15-25 years?

    • Too funny, we’ve got millions of Americans born right here that fit that description.

    • Jim: “too many”? Are you implying that American families who have refrained from work and been on welfare for 4 generations are somehow “less than”?
