2015, Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, “Unmasking the surgeons: the evidence base behind the use of facemasks in surgery”:
overall there is a lack of substantial evidence to support claims that facemasks protect either patient or surgeon from infectious contamination
No evidence of additional protection against wound infections with the use of sterile gloves for wound repair in the ED compared to clean gloves was found.
Let’s ask Dr. ChatGPT:
Speaking of wounds, we can remember as we light the kinara this evening, for the second night of Kwanzaa the likely headwounds of the women who were hit on their heads with toasters by Professor Dr. Dr. Maulana Karenga, Ph.D., Ph.D., the creator of the holiday.
Guess we’ll all be having eye surgery with clean gloves instead of sterile gloves. Wonder what the difference was or if the sterile gloves are marketed under 2 names just to raise the price.
lion: This is done with some aviation parts. They come off the same production line as parts for cars or home air conditioners or whatever. The ones destined to go on an aircraft get put in a different package, are marked up 10-100X, but are physically identical to the parts that are sold for non-aviation use.
“Dr” Phil no longer believes in germ control. Since he is a “Dr” I believe him.
I wonder what your house looks like. Any soap by the bathroom sinks?
The anti-mask movement has its origins in the Orange King’s vanity. He wore a mask, as did most, during the beginning of the pandemic. Then he saw own orange paint on his mask one day. He never wore one again, and tens of millions of idiot-worshipers followed along.
Mike, are you a doctor? Just curious, there appears quite some Freudian envy in your comments to Dr title.
NonAnon: Mike seems to be trying to work around the instructions in https://philip.greenspun.com/personal/resume : “you can’t call me ‘Dr. Greenspun’ because my brother is a real doctor”. When I wrote it, the intention was that the reader would refrain from calling me “Dr.” or using the title in front of my name in writing. Mike perhaps interprets this as a request to be called “Dr. Phil” (though elsewhere within my site, I explain that I go by “Philip” rather than “Phil”).
You can perhaps infer that Mike is not a medical doctor since he doesn’t seem to understand that “non-sterile” doesn’t mean “filthy” or that washing at home with a Softsoap aquarium pump won’t produce “sterile” hands.
