Attempt to preserve democracy #3

October 12, 2024, roughly 8 pm Eastern Time: “Man arrested near Trump Coachella rally intended to kill former president, sheriff says” (Fox 11). By my account, that’s the third attempt by an American patriot to preserve our democracy (assuming that we accept Democrats’ characterization of Donald Trump and what will happen to us if he becomes president again).

October 13, 2024, 11:10 am Eastern Time, Kamala Harris warns of Donald Trump’s “dangerous agenda”:

Separately, has anyone seen anything from a leader within the Party of Science congratulating Elon Musk on what seems like a tremendous step forward for actual science? (I disagree with Mr. Musk regarding the merits of humans living on Mars, but it is valuable to be able to send heavy robot payloads into space and the Starship makes NASA’s ($40 billion in 2024 dollars?) SLS look pathetic.) If Democrats love to Follow the Science why aren’t they more jazzed up about Starship today than about Donald Trump’s agenda (the above tweet from Kamala Harris was sent just a few hours after the Starship booster was caught).

And from a guy that the U.S. government would really like to get hold of

…. also from the Tesla fanboys:

(While trying to avoid extradition, Kim Dotcom manages to tweet his support for Hamas: regarding the “Gaza genocide” (exacerbated by simultaneous rapid population growth); accusing Israel of “indiscriminate mass murder”; a confident “proof” that Israel “Netanyahu can’t defeat Hamas in a ground battle” (Nov 19, 2023; maybe he was correct since Palestinians remain enthusiastic about continuing their war against Israel).)

Circling back to NASA (my first employer!)…

  1. Yep, the heated rhetoric of Pelosi, Schumer (a/k/a The Shomer), Hillary, Biden, Harris encourage the nuts in American to attempt to assassinate the Donald. And yep, Elon, great African-American that he is, has contributed an awful lot to our country.

  2. Watching today’s landing as it happened at 5:30am (7:30 Greenspun Mean time) was almost as mind blowing as a Greenspun blog post.

  3. Keeping score so far

    – First attempt: A teenager who wanted to shoot someone famous, and was googling “politicians near me” or something similar. Trump was just unlucky enough to stop by.

    – Second attempt: Routh, who voted for Trump in 2016, endorsed Tulsi Gabbard in 2020, voted for Biden in 2020, then big supporter of Nikki and Vivek combo ticket in 2024. Spread conspiracy theories about china, covid, and argued how Jewish people had no right to Israel.

When are these Nikki supporters going to be stopped?

We’ll see what this third guy is about.

I’m generally skeptical of any story that involves a man being moved to attack Trump by Kamala’s soaring rhetoric.

    • David: I think I understand the situation now. All of the shooters are Republicans. We are informed by Democrat-run media that Republicans are stupid. The Republican shooters were too stupid to find non-Republicans to shoot and, therefore, they shot at politicians with whom they agree.

    • For the record, I wasn’t calling these shooters Republicans.

I was pointing out that many people on the right want to claim the left is trying to kill their guy, but the teenager appeared to have no political beliefs and the second shooter had odd and incoherent political beliefs.

Things would be more clear if the two were big MSNBC viewers, devouring every interview from Kamala multiple times and hanging on her every word.

But instead, the second guy had a completely crazy combination of views. Who thinks Vivek should be president but thinks Trump should be shot? Which media does one consume to get brainwashed into that view?

A better explanation is that these people are violent lunatics looking to act out their rage and Trump is the single largest personality in the country.

  4. I no longer learn anything from this blog that I can’t find in a FoxNews.com comments section. The true contagious mind-virus is definitely in right-wing culture.

    • Welcome back Mike! You say you no longer learn things here and yet you came for the forbidden fruit. Looks like the virus got you!

    • Mike: I hope that you’ll come back tomorrow when we celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day, a holiday that I fear our brothers, sisters, and binary-resisters at FoxNews haven’t yet cottoned on to.
