Why does Kamala Harris laugh so often?

Here’s a video of Kamala Harris saying that she’ll agree to spend $trillions (debt that will eventually be paid back at least partially by taxes on Chinese immigrants? What role did they play in this drama?) in reparations to Americans who identify as descendants of former slaves:

The question for today is why she laughs after making this pledge. Slavery isn’t, I hope, a laughing matter, even though it ended more than 159 years ago here in the U.S. (it does continue in some countries, supposedly) Spending $trillions of money that will have to be earned via the sweat of others isn’t, one would think, a laughing matter. Forcing immigrants from China, Haiti, and Venezuela to pay extra taxes and receive fewer government services isn’t obviously a laughing matter.

Here’s one where she starts laughing at about 4:10 while discussing the policy with the most transformative effects on American society:

Here she is apparently laughing about the U.S. being defeated in Afghanistan:

(The Taliban could reasonably laugh about the inability of the U.S. to accomplish any of its goals after 20 years, but why the U.S. VP?)

This is the “joy” that Americans are being sold by the Democrats and their media allies? But what is joyful about U.S. politics? We have an economy that is less than half the size it needs to be for Americans to achieve their government spending goals (free unlimited health care for all, pimped-out housing as a human right, open borders and a cradle-to-grave multi-generational welfare state, etc.). So government is inevitably about saying “No, we can’t afford that right now,” even for Democrats. What child ever experienced joy at hearing a parent say “No, we can’t afford that trip to Disney World”?

Closing this out with Kamala Harris laughing about laughing…

  1. You’d laugh too if you’d “faked it ’till you made it” that far and basically duped the whole world.
She’s basically won the lottery. She can live the Obama/Clinton style “1 million per speech houses on both coasts” lifestyle now.

  2. Calif* democrats have never lost an election in a generation so most Calif* politicians laugh at the concept of an election. They have so much impunity, they shut down Elon’s request for more launches just because he said disparaging comments about the party. Making homeless pay for reparations & forgivable loans for the rich is a no brainer when you’re invincible.

  3. Always look on the bright side of life, as a bunch of wastrels once put it.

Or Nat King Cole (apparently written by a team including Charlie Chaplin)

Smile though your heart is aching
    Smile even though it’s breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
    You’ll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
    Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come shining through for you

Light up your face with gladness
    Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
    That’s the time
    You must keep on trying
Smile, what’s the use of crying
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
    If you just smile

    That’s the time
    You must keep on trying
Smile, what’s the use of crying?
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
    If you just smile

  4. Dear Phil,

What a wonderful question! I’ve been thinking about it for the past hour nonstop and I couldn’t come up with a sensible reason, so of course I asked my Joey. He used a nasty word that I won’t share with you and also cursed the “dimwitted” DEI folks who suggested her. Hunter thinks her cackling is endearing, but I wonder if that’s just because he’s been banging her.

    Most sincerely,
    Dr. Jill.

  5. I think Obama has your answer: she’s “retarded.”https://x.com/papitrumpo/status/1846684133298159702?s=46&t=s86sYc0Q5E8NNR_0yMOi9g

  6. She cackles because she doesn’t like the direction the conversation is going. She’s nervous and doesn’t know what she should say. She’s slow on her feet.

When she cackles, the vast majority of people who are conversing with her start laughing too (even when it seems inappropriate), which allows her to escape from the nervous position she’s in. It’s an escape hatch for her.

Occasionally the person she’s talking to doesn’t join in on the weird laughter. They just stare at her expecting a rational response instead of giggling. Then there’s a long, uncomfortable silence as Harris has no idea how to react to such a response.

  7. Hypothesis: Too much laughing, and at inappropriate occasions is the way of people without a sense of humor to hide their defect.

    Makes sense for a chameleon.
