A Greta Thunberg yacht trip to California?

Greta Thunberg is back in Europe after her heroic aid trip to Gaza. There are some open questions regarding this trip:

  • why does someone who says that the Earth is being destroyed by humans choose the Palestinians, close to world #1 in fertility and population growth, as her model society? Just imagine the CO2 output if every group of humans on this planet had 4-6 children per family, as is common among Palestinians entitled to UNRWA aid (i.e., free food, health care, education, etc., even if nobody ever works at any job other than Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad soldier)
  • why was a female do-gooder visiting a group of Muslims (the noble Gazans) not wearing hijab and/or burqa?

I’m not holding my breath for answers to the above, but now that we apparently need not worry about climate change, perhaps the highest and best use for Greta Thunberg would be a diesel-fueled yacht trip to deliver aid to the Californians who are currently #resisting an occupying military.

Let’s look at some photos from my recent visit to the teen section of the central Los Angeles Public Library, which officially teaches cooperation via smartphone to evade ICE. An important way to “keep our community safe” is to prevent federal government workers from doing their jobs:

The #Science section in which we learn that SARS-CoV-2 is no match for teenagers wearing masks and voluntarily receiving an injection of an experimental vaccine that is reserved for those 75 years and older in the UK:

The library has an official “favorite drag queen” and he/she/ze/they recently performed for teenagers:

Any books for the teens to read after the drag show?

Finally, remember that Los Angeles is a hate-free zone (which is why Donald Trump and ICE are being welcomed with love?):

Readers: What should Greta T deliver to the besieged folks in Los Angeles?

  1. Israelis saved the dear Greta, either on their own or by a request of some powers. The worst Israel could do to her is to let her through into Gaza.

    • perplexed: Why do you think Greta Thunberg would have suffered in Gaza? From all accounts, the locals aren’t even slightly afraid of being killed by the IDF (they don’t bother to dig in or take shelter behind concrete walls). There is plenty of food (crowd photos show everyone well fed and healthy weight). There is plenty of health care (all of the hospitals are always exactly 72 hours from running out of supplies or being shut down for some other reason). Maybe Greta would have had to wear a hijab, but the crowd photos show that almost everyone has freshly laundered clothing without rips or tears. Surely someone could have lent her appropriately modest attire. I don’t think that Hamas, still the elected and popular government, would have allowed random street criminals to attack Greta T.

    • Philip, I think that most of the people are fed up Ms Thunberg talking. There is so much attention can be paid to an exploited child with missed childhood and without proper education who turned a dull adult. I think that her speeches have opposite reaction from what they intended to communicate, even on those who like nature and/or don’t like Israel and Jews. On the other hand, martyred household name could become a new propaganda story. See history https://israel365news.com/400927/the-rachel-corrie-incident-turning-the-tables-on-anti-israel-propaganda/

    • For every Greta Thunberg out there, there are hundreds of other successful kids, teens, and adults quietly making big contributions to society and the environment. Yet, the liberal media rarely gives them any attention. Greta fits the profile of the kind of figure liberals and liberal media outlets like NPR eagerly covers — day in and day out — with a steady stream of doomsday narratives.

Greta is not a hero, she is more of a distraction. Regardless of how much attention she receives or what actions she takes, the actual impact remains nil. If anyone bears responsibility for what she has become, it is her parents, who shaped and positioned her in this role and rubbed her of normal life.

  2. It’s Juneteenth and Elder Abuse Awareness month here in the senior collectve. Curry favour for coffee. Call 311 and no coffee. There is no retaliation for complaints because complainers disappear with less due process than an El Salvadorean human trafficker.

  3. Now that even Dr. Greenspun is becoming woke by promoting cancel culture on his blog, what to say about Ms. Greta’s hypocrisy! LOL!

IMO, it’s all about marketing. Find an idea, A, that inspires an emotional response like Gaza, immigration, pollution, etc., then start advocating for it, and never look at the big-picture. Because looking at the bigger picture requires detachment from A and a rational / neutral / numerical response, which may not even be available to justify A. For example, let’s use a metric m, ‘CO2 emissions per km’, numbers for which are available, to compare the transport modes, note that this doesn’t include the carbon footprint of other waste produced:

    Cruise: 251 m per person
    Long haul flight: 102 m per lower-birth

Then why did Ms. Greta take the cruise? IMO, just like other contemporary leaders / marketers, she noticed an undercurrent of emotions towards A in the public, and wanted to exploit it for marketing!

    • Where does this post promote “cancel culture”? I am confused (especially because I celebrate all expressions by Greta Thunberg).
