  1. I read that article, too. That’s simply too hilarious. Hmmm….who are worse: Chinese-government prudes or Arabian-government prudes? They both love to pollute, hate human rights, and can’t stand democracy. Now I see both also get really uncomfortable about sex.

  2. Come to think of it, all these Japanese guys and Chinese whores are nothing but a dull slew of nuns and monks actually in comparison with what one can stumble upon in Russia. There are some travel&adventure companies catering to their clients with the so-called “extreme entertainment”. If one has been dreaming for the whole ones mediocre life of being, for example, a wild west thug or a highwayman, an indian, a German fashist occupant during World War II or any other kind of naughty and mischievous personality, and if one chanced finally to become rich enough, then he/she can bring his/her dreams and secret reveries to one of this companies ant ask to make them come true. Following his instructions, they will organize a pageant happening in the course of which the client and his best friends will be entitled, for example, to overrun a village burning down homes, shooting cattles, raping women (hired prostitutes, of course, not the regular company employees) etc., etc. And nobody ever minded these activities officially as a national shame or whatever. Articles on this and similar issues could be found in newspapers some time ago but I have never heard of any investigation undertaken by the authorities so far in connection with all these matters. I’m surprised how humble and poorly and without any real creative fantasy all these festivities were organized in China. Thus I’m forced to suspect that it was nothing but a provocation organized behind the scene by the same politicians in China who are blaming the Japanese now in order to instigate hatred between people out of some political reasons yet unknown to me. Had it been a real business enterprise, some pompous event like Nankin rape could have been organized for sure.

P.S. Happy Birthday to you, Phil. I’m sorry, I’m a little bit late with congratulations. Thank you for your writings. It’s a pleasure to read them as a rule.

  4. You said in your photo site “Imagine a country where everyone has good taste. You’ve imagined Japan.” However, you must realise Japan is also responsible for a great deal of child-rape cartoon porn and very disturbing stories as described here: http://mdn.mainichi.co.jp/waiwai/face/index.html

Its a very nice place, but I would keep the hyperboles in check!

  5. Ewan and people who have read waiwai column, you must see the fact to read telegraph.co.uk.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/2443937/Japanese-newspaper-admits-infamous-sex-column-was-untrue.html

“A notorious sex column published in a leading Japanese newspaper has been dropped, after the paper admitted that many of the lewd stories it contained were untrue. ” (Telegraph.co.uk)

A notorious sex column is what Ewan indicated: http://mdn.mainichi.co.jp/waiwai/face/index.html

The column has been closed already. Its writer was an anti-Japanese Australian. It’s no doubt that all information in the column are fabrications.
