Photos from my small airplane trip down the East Coast for Thanksgiving are available at http://philip.greenspun.com/images/200411-thanksgiving-trip/ (also 100+ unedited (bleah) pix of some young cousins at http://philip.greenspun.com/images/200411-frankel-girls/ ). All of these were taken with a Canon EOS 20D and 16-35/2.8L or 70-200/2.8L IS lenses, recently purchased from Adorama.

Where were the photos from the East Coast trip taken?
If you like outdoor sculpture, and happen to ever head down to New Jersey, you should check out Hamilton’s Sculpture Gardens.
Philip, did you fly in to photograph Larkin’s Twig? A photo of a helicopter next to the Twig would be interesting as would the artist’s reaction to it.
those Thanksgiving trip photos were taken (a) by my friend Jean from the left seat of a Robinson R22 helicopter rented at the Frederick, MD airport, (b) by my friend Karen’s son on the ramp at the Norfolk, VA airport, and (c) by me in Edward Tufte’s backyard in central Connecticut.
I have not landed an R22 in Edward’s backyard yet. The approaches are fairly clear but I think the ground might be too swampy in most places. As a novice pilot I don’t like to get too close to objects on the ground and am reluctant to do off-airport landings without an instructor.
