I’m in the fight of my life right now … We have another $12,500 to raise, but luckily, a group of fired-up donors has offered to match all gifts, but only until midnight. Time’s running out, and whether or not we hit this goal before midnight could determine senate control. Please, will you give now and get every dollar DOUBLED?
Maybe there is a way on Facebook to target ads to “Coastal Elites” and I was mistakenly flagged as “elite” while correctly identified as living in Massachusetts?
Suppose that raising money from folks in Massachusetts is successful. Why would voters in North Dakota want to be represented by someone who has to answer to East Coast funders? Is the regional nature of U.S. politics breaking down?
[Heitkamp voted to keep the convicted-by-Facebook rapist Brett Kavanaugh on the appeals court:
She also credited the “heartfelt, credible and persuasive testimony” given by Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her at a party during high school.
“She had nothing to gain and everything to lose,” Heitkamp said. “When I listened to Dr. Ford testify, I heard the voices of women I have known throughout my life who have similar stories of sexual assault and abuse.”
So I responded to the sponsored listing with
Will you celebrate your victory by flying to French Polynesia with Christine Blasey Ford as your experienced guide? (maybe you can help Dr. Ford with her fear of flying in case the new B787 with fainting couch is not ready?)
This was not well-received by the Heitkamp faithful:

So the person with a traditionally female name (Brenda might be a “woman”) who is passionate about ensuring that survivors are believed wants to see more women assaulted, so long as those women have the misfortune to be related to “a male pig.” Where is the solidarity among the sisterhood? (assuming that “Brenda” actually does identify as a sister)]
PhilG: There are massive intrawoman differences in support for the Trumpenfurher and who they side with in Kavanaugh/Ford. Married women support Trumpenfurher and Kavanaugh while divorced and single women #resist and support Ford. Men do support Trumpenfurher and Kavanaugh in greater numbers but the difference on sex is much smaller than married vs. single. The one exception to this pattern is divorced men support the Trumpenfurher by massive margins, while divorced women are #resisting. Perhaps this explains the lack of solidarity among the sisterhood?
Maybe ND just doesn’t want to be represented by an idiot. ND was 60%+ in favor of Kavanaugh nomination – she voted against. Then she released the names of sexual assault victims in a campaign ad w/o permission.
Re: fundraising – the Democrats are desperate to win Congress, and every race is a proxy for doing so. See Beto O’Rourke’s $38 campaign war chest which will likely do him no good at all.

It’s terrible that you got bullied on facebook. That sort of bullying has got to stop. But take comfort, Zuckerberg is working on it. I’m sure when the facebook moderators see Brenda Torres’ hateful post, her account will be terminated.
I hope you’re ok, philg. Bullying can leave a person scarred for life. But always remember that many persons love you, no matter what you say.
The nationalization of campaign funding, particularly for Senate seats, happened decades ago. The vast amount of Jesse Helms’ campaign funds, at least after his first election, came from his Congressional Club operation, with 70% of its contributors coming from outside NC (the Wikipedia article doesn’t break down contribution locations by amount, but it’s pretty likely at least half the dollars were from outside NC), and it really ramping up in the late 70s-80s.
So she asked for the money and did not offer to sing a song or something? She wouldn’t be too successful on a NYC subway. Even a puppy would stand up on its hind legs for a treat. Oh, those Democratic politicians…
After her support to reinstate earned pensions how could her district vote her out. Unbelievable
