If these folks were not ignorant and self obsessed they might have discovered that Finnish has (only) gender neutral pronouns (hän/hänen) which have the distinctive advantage of looking reasonably like English once the umlaut is removed.
May I also ask, isn’t standard practice to always use people’s actual names talking to them or talking about them when they are within earshot?
