Limiting political protests in the Cradle of Liberty (TM)

“Boston Mayor Michelle Wu Proposes Limits On Protests At Private Homes” (CBS):

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, who has been targeted in early mornings by people outside her home protesting her city employee coronavirus vaccine mandate, filed an ordinance Monday that would limit when protesters can picket.

“Boston has a strong legacy of activism, and it’s important to uphold and protect the ability to speak out and advocate fiercely to keep our democracy strong,” Wu said in a statement. “But in a moment of divided national politics, we can’t normalize the harassment and hate spilling over into our communities.”

Protests will be allowed when national politics are unified, i.e., when every American agrees with the ruling party. Also, oftentimes the best way to uphold and protect the ability to speak out is by arresting and fining those who speak out.

An attorney friend in Maskachusetts:

She had no qualms about supporting protesters outside Gov. Baker’s house, when it was for some climate change cause. No problem with shutting down I-93, proudly showing pictures of herself doing it on social media, when it was for a cause [Black Lives Matter] she supported. But now, when protesters are outside her house, she wants an ordinance making it illegal.

Isn’t it interesting that these “leaders” all seem to find their inner censor when protests are against their pet causes and pet decisions? (Looking at you, Justin Trudeau).

It is possible that the above quote contains a misstatement. What I was able to find was an employee of Michelle Wu proudly posting about shutting down Interstate 93:

  1. Wu’s hypocrisy isn’t surprising. I have something related because I just took a car trip whist listening to NPR Now 122 Sirius featuring “Fresh Air Weekend.” I have a couple details missing but it was so amazing I have to share the notes I just took when I sat down, so that I didn’t forget the train of thought:

“NPR “Fresh Air Weekend” 3/4/2022 with Terri Gross and author of book (“Red Carpet…blah…blah..”) on Chinese censorship of films made for Chinese market and increasingly using that muscle in Hwood films for other markets, forbidden to express amoral, immoral, transmoral filth, grisly murder, explicit homosexuality, negative views of Chinese, Chinese reduced to supporting roles, other forms of racial/ethnic diversity, and other things they deem sewage that are now mainstays and commonplace and expected for American films and American culture.

The two Two ding dongs cannot understand why American liberals decry censorship while but Chinese authorities want it. One answer maybe: ChiComs are perfectly fine with Americans pumping demoralizing, dehumanizing, divisive and corrosive raw sewage into their OWN culture, but do not want any of it in THEIR culture. Gross and guest cannot figure this out! After all, American liberals enjoy the filth and diversity. Except for their OWN CHILDREN, who the elites try to keep away from all the sewage everywhere!

The Two Ding Dongs can also not understand why China can successfully pull this off, with American companies refusing to protest or object to the censorship because they still want access to the Chinese film market and are not just amoral failures, but amoral cowards!

After a while the Ding Dongs might realize that the Chinese control the tone and content of the films children and adults are exposed to because it makes their society more unified and much stronger against the West who cannot stop drowning in their own sewage, creating nothing but unsolvable expensive social problems for themselves.”

What does this have to do with WU? Well, she didn’t mind when the Leftist Hordes were besieging Mitch McConnell – but it’s way too far when they do it to her! It’s hilarious!

  2. A calmer Alex: It seems that she wants to make any protests anywhere fit into a nice, suburban schedule of Outrage with Dunkin’ and a Little Bit of Mild Rebuke. As long as protests happen between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. and nobody gets woken up or kept up too late, bangs pots or pans, carries any guns, and maybe sits there and listens to NPR, fine. Protest away.

It’s kind of “Michelle Wu’s Definition of Protest is like a Lukewarm Faculty Lounge Argument.”

As long as you – or anyone else – push anyone out of their Comfort Zone or Safe Space – protest away. If you sign up at: http://mass.gov/protest/ we can help you connect with free resources for your peaceful protest, including transportation, counseling resources, essential marijuana, and other benefits to get your message out, but so people can sleep, for goodness sake.

    • Will the real Alex (1.0 aka gun control means not missing your target) say hello?

    • Hello. They’re all me. If someone wants to reset the displayed username, fine with me. Gun Control Means Hitting Your Target – don’t give me any of that semi-passive BS. Lol.

  3. Did you already move back to Greenspunchussetts? There was once a guy who flew a cessna in circles over an ex wife’s house in protest of something. It theoretically cost him his pilot’s license so it’s not surprising if protesting outside someone’s house is illegal.

    • lion2: We would love to move back to Maskachusetts where we would be kept safe from SARS-CoV-2 by Science-guided government, but, due to supply chain issues we cannot get all of the items that we would need for such a move. This includes Black Lives Matter signs, Hate Has No Home Here signs, #StopAsianHate bumper stickers, Biden/Harris, “I’m with Her”, and Obama stickers for the car (important to show continuity), and “In this house we believe” signs.

    • I have an Obama badge that the top Massachusetts Obama fundraiser, whom, by a strange coincidence, I knew personally, gave me. The badge may still be hiding somewhere. If I find it, I can mail it to you as the first step of repatriating to MA.

    • Philip, I personally know two sign and billboard makers. Here in the hinterland they are probably booked for a while by queue of request for Trump 2024 signs but I can ask them for a favor.

    • Yeah.. it does goosestep in a sharp-looking uninform with SS insignia these days.
