A Silicon Valley history of aeronautical engineering

History according to Google’s Gemini:

ChatGPT 4, in response to the same prompt:

ChatGPT, in response to “Create a mural of five aircraft designers working together in 1905”:

Back to Gemini, this time regarding elderly surgeons:

I give the system credit for using one of my favorite terms: “Latinx”. A surgeon who graduated in 1970 should have been born in 1944, however, and thus would be 80 years old today. These folks look like they’re in unusually good shape for age 80.

Gemini knows about the “sport of kings”:

But its image generator is clueless:

  1. We screamed at China for censor and not including, in their text books or history the Tiananmen Square events of 1989, but yet we are OK with AI, and our government for doing the same: change history.

  2. @Philip, just for some fun, can you ask Gemini to generate images of the moon walk and share them here?

    • @Faucian, you are correct. Today’s generation with DEI and the rainbow flag, don’t know a bit of the Apollo program. An image of Michael or even Beyoncé will do!

Here is an easier challenge for Gemini which I hope today’s generation might know a bit about: “create an image of Larry and Sergey cranking the very first code of Google”

Will the image of Larry and Sergey be of “women” and non-white? Or will the image of Larry and Sergey be surrounded with people of non-white?

  3. Take a close look at the aeronautical designs and the model airplanes in the photos: There’s sort of an art nouveau/non-Euclidean thing going on. Maybe these images are more accurate than you’re giving them credit for: these planes would fall apart upon takeoff.

Also, half of the designers have 11 fingers.
