Boise Zoo offers a solution to the San Francisco housing crisis

According to state-sponsored NPR/PBS, San Francisco is suffering from “intractable housing crisis”. CBS notes that “As San Francisco’s homeless population in city-provided housing grows, few flow out” (unclear how people are “homeless” if they have the right to live forever in taxpayer-funded housing).

Is it possible that San Francisco has an abundant natural resource that can be turned into housing? A sign outside the restrooms at the Boise Zoo:

Separately, it looks as though the San Francisco influence on Boise has been powerful (photos: July 2025):

The “Community is Resistance” sign is an interesting window into the progressive mindset. Human communities previously existed to ensure survival of the maximum number of humans. Perhaps due to overpopulation human communities today exist primarily to “resist” other human communities.

  1. Phil – a poop/dung house that meets CA building codes, including prevention of COVID and proper distancing? I’d like to see that. CA has a large population of Afghans / “Other” Asians that are used to mud houses back home. That’d be a great, environmentally friendly way to rebuild Malibu.

  2. Our African ancestors haven’t caught up with modern bureaucracy yet. Wonder what dinner in the dung house is like.

    • You don’t need to wonder, dining in a dung house comes with a fly in your soup.

  3. A bit off topic.

The state-sponsored NPR is airing program after program about the recent funding cuts. They bring on guests who talk about the supposed impact on listeners and the communities they serve, sharing story after story about how their broadcasts have saved lives, and how going off the air could be catastrophic.

Meanwhile, both hosts and guests repeatedly insist that their reporting is unbiased. Yet, not a *single* guest is invited to challenge their claims or offer a perspective on why the cuts might not be so disastrous.
