Invite to an election night party

Here’s part of an invitation that I received to an election night party:

The party is here in South Florida, but the host is a lockdown refugee from San Francisco. Some political signs have gone up in our town. There is a lot of enthusiasm for Governor DeSantis and a bit for Congressman Brian Mast (a Republican who is somewhat hostile to civilian gun ownership). Marco Rubio is predicted to win, but I haven’t seen any signs for him (compare to 50+ for DeSantis and a handful for Mast).

Charlie Crist has run a 99% negative campaign. Here’s a recent example:

Twitter unpersoned Marjorie Taylor Greene for saying that the COVID “vaccines” did not prevent infection or transmission. Why is it okay for this Democrat to say that Ron DeSantis has “banned” abortion care for pregnant people when Florida reproductive health care providers are providing abortion care to pregnant people every day? From abortionfinder.org:

If you’re 15 weeks, 6 days pregnant or less, it is legal for you to get an abortion in Florida.

This rule allows for more abortion care than almost anywhere in the European Union (Germany has a 12-week limit, for example.) Doesn’t Crist’s statement at least merit some kind of warning sign to users that the facts are “missing context”?

Despite Crist’s crusade for freedom of the press (undoing DeSantis’s purported “banned books” action) and freedom of speech (undoing DeSantis’s purported “banned saying ‘gay'” action), he apparently has failed to generate excitement among people who live in Jupiter. I have seen no signs for him.

Who else has been invited to an election night party? I can’t remember this much excitement for the typical mid-term election. I wonder if it is because government has become larger and more pervasive and therefore there is now much more at stake than in previous decades. For example, if you have a student loan outstanding the outcome of this election can determine whether you’re going to be $10,000 richer or not. That’s a tax-free bonanza, right? If the election doesn’t go well, the gender studies graduate might have to work a second job to earn $20,000 pre-tax to be equally well off compared to if Democrats prevail and the college debt can be shifted onto the backs of the working class?

  1. “Dr” Phil: “I moved across the country to get closer to Desantis people and close enough to the Anointed One to feel his orange glow. Others followed who also think a respiratory virus that has killed 1.5% of Americans over 60 is no big deal. I have wrapped myself in a Russian-loving, half-of-America hating cocoon and wonder why I don’t see the other half.”

Shouldn’t you be happy, not having to deal with Democrats? You’ve previously said no one in Florida cares about Covid — but you are still obsessed. Nearly all your neighbors are book-banning Republicans, but you still obsess about Democrats. I feel bad for you. You should just be living it up in autocratic utopia!

    • Mike: We live in Palm Beach County, which is majority Democrat!

https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story/news/politics/2022/10/23/no-party-affiliated-voters-surge-palm-beach-county-becomes-purple/8122364001/ says “Democrats lead Republicans in Palm Beach County by 110,156 voter registrations.”

The original post does not mention Covid. (I guess you could argue that the reference to “lockdown” falls under the coronapanic category, but as we now know, a non-Chinese lockdown has only a minimal effect on our long-term companion SARS-CoV-2.)

    • @Mike, it looks to me that Democrats, like Newsom, are obsessed about Republicans. Why would Newsom, governor of California, challenge DeSantis, governor of Florida, for a debate and place advertisements in Florida? What does Newsom has to gain out of DeSantis and Florida that will do good for the people of California that Newsom represents?

    • Mike, I have said it before but I am saying it again. You are a dumb dumb! According to the content moderation policy ad hominem attacks are not allowed, but I usually get away with it. Who else has been invited to an election night party? I have!

CNN and other major news organization, including Google News have a Fact Check page. One would ask, why aren’t they running those “Fact check” on those politician that flat out lie? Those same organization tell us that America is divided but yet they will not call out politician that are *creating* this division. You know why? They make their $$ out of the division. They are worse then those top 1% billionaires that they love to hate.

  3. Coming from the party of forced speech, cancel culture, censorship and de-banking the statement “What’s next, banning all those who disagree with him?” deserves an award for the boldest insolence of 2022.

This election is followed worldwide due to its significance for economic recovery, freedom and world peace.

  4. Political advertising is generally exempt from any “truth-in” regulation, so it’s safer to assume it’s all lies.

And Orwell thought he was just writing fiction…

    • But the Crist tweets are not paid ads. The new enthusiast for abortion care is posting these as an ordinary user.
