Did lockdowns protect us from jihad?

From exactly two years ago… Will lockdowns protect us from jihad? (they can’t hate our freedom anymore):

“They hate our freedoms: our freedom of religion, our freedom of speech, our freedom to vote and assemble and disagree with each other.” [George W. Bush]

Depending on the state, Americans no longer have the right to assemble (see the multi-year emergency unfold in 66+ governor’s orders here in Maskachusetts, for example). Americans who want to hold a job certainly don’t have freedom of speech and they’d better not disagree with the hashtag campaign du jour (e.g., #StopAsianHate) nor with diversity and inclusion efforts. We are informed by our media that citizens of Georgia no longer have the freedom to vote.

As far as I am aware, there have been no Islamic attacks on Americans within the U.S. since April 17, 2021. Can we rate my prediction correct?

One potential issue: a jihadi attacked a U.S. military base in May 2020 (background). It was in Texas, so not quite as locked down as some other states, but still arguably during lockdown.

  1. I think the Jihadis saw what a mess we are making of our own country and said “No way we can top this, we are out of here”
    I mean if you were getting ready to punch someone in the face and they stabbed themself in the arm with a knife, you probably would hold off, shocked.

    The Wikipedia page blames the attack on the venue not being locked down hard enough rather than lack of body guards!

    It emerged that the leadership of the Chautauqua Institution disregarded recommendations for security precautions because they felt it would alienate the audience from the speakers. Following the attack, the Chautauqua Institution announced it would require guests to furnish photo IDs to buy gate passes, which could be purchased anonymously before. Carried bags will also be banned in the amphitheater.

    But there have been fewer attacks. The theory that the West has destroyed itself after 9/11 by slowly increasing surveillance, totalitarianism etc. makes sense.

  3. Those 19 Saudis in 2001 succeeded beyond their wildest dreams, provoking such a grotesque over-response that our relationship to our government was transformed. We have spent millions per “terrorist” and yet we are gunning down each other, mostly our children, faster than the “enemy”. When do we call it madness?
